Imagine living in a world where a toothbrush is considered a luxury item, and simple toiletries are unobtainable. Unfortunately, this is a reality for many families who live below the poverty level in the United States and countries around the world.
While traveling to India, the Bodar family realized that children in different countries were without basic necessities. For Kalpesh and Mita Bodar, this was beyond upsetting. Their own children, Anjani, grade 7, Anisha, grade 5 and Anuj, grade 3, all attend Fairmont Anaheim Hills, and have been blessed with so much.
As their children started to grow up, the family continued to volunteer. “We’ve gone to the Dominican Republic and visited an orphanage. We gave out dental kits to 200 kids. Locally we have volunteered at Second Harvest, Izzy’s Corner, I support The Girls, The Blind Children’s Center, Kids Connect, and HashtagLunchbag,” said Mita.
As parents, Kalpesh and Mita felt volunteerism would have a significant impact on their children, they were correct. Filling Bags of Hope … One By One started purely by accident, when the Bodar children, along with their friends Alisha and Aron Bhavsar, wanted to continue to help people in need. The kids brainstormed the basic idea, came up with a logo design, and with some help from their parents, created Filling Bags of Hope … One By One. Their goal was to provide people in need with bags of toiletries to maintain good hygiene, and with the help of friends and family, they are achieving their dream.
Today, Filling Bags of Hope … One By One continues to make toiletry bags for local shelters. Using travel size soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, and more, they allow the men, women, and children to feel hope and regain their dignity.
