Â Reading, mathematics, and writing progress is measured through Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), California Test of Performance (CTP), Writing Assessment Program (WrAP), Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP), and ERB Milestone assessments, giving students a clear view of their strengths and next steps.
Recognition is part of everyday life - students earn Student of the Month, Athletic Awards, and are celebrated during weekly flag salute gatherings. Eighth graders strive for Huskie Elite and shine at 8th Grade Promotion, while academic excellence is honored through Honor Roll and Head of School Honor Roll.
Students also showcase their talents in the Spelling Bee, Pep Rally, and other special events. Report Cards and Progress Reports are shared twice a year via Blackbaud, keeping families connected to each child’s learning journey.
At our American Middle School, students build life competencies through rich STEAM learning that prepares them for high school and beyond. Every SmartLab project is a chance to think critically, ask questions, test ideas, and design solutions that work. In Grade 6, lessons cover greetings and courtesy, numbers and the alphabet, classroom commands, days and months, weather and seasons, definite and indefinite articles, food, verb ending, family, barn animals, and travel.
