Esports is the fastest-growing high school sport in the nation and Fairmont Prep is pleased to provide an opportunity for video gamers to compete in this CIF-sanctioned sport.
It is widely recognized that Esports hones students’ problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and community. It also opens doors to college scholarships and potential career paths in the video game industry, as well as in related fields such as technology and entertainment.
According to Michael Sarris, Fairmont Prep Esports coach, another key benefit of this new program is the opportunity it provides to students who might not otherwise compete in sports. “Some students are talented at playing physical sports like basketball or soccer while others demonstrate their skills with keyboards and joysticks. Esports paves the way for those kids to engage and enjoy all of the benefits of healthy competition.”
Fairmont Prep has partnered with some of the top publishers to provide an expansive line-up of game titles:
- League of Legends
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Splatoon 2
- Rocket League

- Madden 21
- FIFA 21
