Remote Learning

Fairmont’s remote learning program is a 5-day a week, full school day, synchronous program that provides live stream classroom instruction featuring our award-winning teachers and standards-based curriculum.
Program Overview
Technology
Fairmont delivers its remote learning program through a live-streamed classroom. Our educators have created an immersive classroom experience through the use of technology including a Swivl robotic device, which enables a camera to track the teacher as he or she moves around the classroom. Big-screen monitors in classrooms allow teachers to view their remote students, and enhanced software such as Nearpod and Gimkit keep students learning from home engaged in lively lessons and classroom activities.
Teachers
The excellence of our faculty sets Fairmont’s remote learning program apart. Our teachers have risen to the challenge of educating students in a distance learning format. They excel at using technology resources to find ways to connect with students, whether in class or learning remotely. Fairmont faculty participate in extensive training and classroom preparation, including ways to address students’ social and emotional needs during this challenging time.
Curriculum
Fairmont’s remote learning program uses the same rigorous, standards-based curriculum that empowered student success prior to the pandemic. There is no “watering down” of the curriculum in our remote version. In fact, we have found that our students did not experience the learning loss associated with a switch to a remote platform, referred to as the Covid Slide. Fairmont students continue to perform well above state and national standards. Remote students benefit from core academic subjects, as well as weekly instruction in Music, Art, Drama, PE, Language, and Computers.
