Homestay Students Tour University of Southern California

On February 3, eight of our Fairmont Homestay students attended a field trip to the University of Southern California (USC). The students toured the campus and heard from both student and alumni speakers. The speakers gave insight to life at the university and tips on applications and scholarships – always welcome advice for high school students!

During the tour, students learned about college life, available activities at USC (ranging from Greek life to cultural organizations to academic clubs), and how much homework one can expect. The field trip gave the students a chance to ask their own questions about life on a college campus. Homestay coordinator, Yvette Tung, reports the student’s questions included what the “real college experience” is like and “How many hours of sleep does one average a night?” Fortunately for future college students, the answer isn’t too bad, with an average of 7.03 hours of sleep on school days, according to a study by Jawbone.

Our Homestay students will be embarking on more field trips come Spring Break. More photos of the trip can be seen with #homestayhuskies on Instagram and Facebook.
