Fairmont Student Competes in National Ice Skating Competition

Alisha Huang, Historic Anaheim 8th grader, has returned from the United States Synchronized Skating Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan after her team placed first in the Western Division and ninth in the United States. During this four-day event, the national competition hosted 91 teams and nearly 1,800 ice skaters competing in eight divisions ranging from adult and masters to intermediate and novice.

In January, Huang traveled with the ICE’Kateers juvenile team to the 2016 Midwestern and Pacific Coast Sectional Championships held in Portland, Oregon where the team placed third in competition, guaranteeing themselves a spot in the national competition. Huang has been competing with Orange County’s ICE’Kateers Synchronized Skating Team for two years and trains three to four hours each week to perfect and develop her skating skills. In addition to ice skating, Huang also enjoys singing, dancing, and playing the ukulele.
