Fairmont Prep Student Rides On Rose Parade Float

Fairmont Preparatory Academy junior Manveena Singh rode on the float “A Sikh-American Journey” during the 2015 Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day. Wearing her Girl Scout uniform, Manveena joined others in celebrating the contributions of Sikh-Americans.

“It was an honor and privilege to represent my Sikh community, the younger generation in general, and Girl Scouts while riding on this beautiful float,” said Manveena. “It was exciting to see people wave at us, but I felt even more pride when people saluted with the Girl Scout sign.”

Enrolled in Fairmont Preparatory Academy’s International Business Program, Manveena’s favorite classes include global citizenship and entrepreneurship. Her extracurricular activities include Associated Student Body, varsity golf team, Key Club and UNICEF. Manveena has been a student of Fairmont since preschool. During her free time, she enjoys DJing and volunteering with Sikhlens (Sikh Arts and Film Festival) at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
