Fairmont Private Schools is pleased to announce that three junior high students earned high scores at this year’s California State Science Fair in Los Angeles. The students’ efforts exemplify their interest in and commitment to scientific research.

Jacob G. received third place for his project entitled “Thinking About the Future: Most Superior Way to Grow Algae” in the category of microbiology (general).

Sasha R. received fourth place for her project entitled “Be Sun Smart” in the category of behavioral & social science.

Qianyun L. received an honorable mention for her project entitled “Enzyme Catalase: The Key to Hydrogen Peroxide” in the category of biochemistry/molecular biology.

The competition, held on May 18-19, 2015, involved 968 students grades 6th – 12th from 425 schools throughout the state. A total of 860 projects were presented. The California State Science Fair is the final science fair of the academic year.
